Gateway Community Development Corporation Awarded $1.5 Million YouthBuild Grant to Serve Yazoo County
Yazoo City, MS – Gateway Community Development Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $1.5 million YouthBuild Grant to serve Yazoo County. This transformative funding from the U.S. Department of Labor will empower Gateway CDC to provide essential education, job training, and leadership development opportunities for young people, particularly those facing barriers to success.
The YouthBuild program is designed to assist out-of-school youth, ages 16-24, in obtaining high school diplomas or equivalency credentials, as well as industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields such as construction, healthcare, and information technology. Participants will also develop leadership and life skills, gain hands-on work experience, and engage in community service projects that benefit the local area.
“This grant is a game-changer for our community,” said Alpresteon Billings, CEO of Gateway CDC. “With this funding, we will be able to equip young people with the skills and resources they need to build brighter futures for themselves and contribute to the economic growth of Yazoo and surrounding counties.”
Through this grant, Gateway CDC will partner with local businesses, educational institutions, and community leaders to ensure the program’s success and sustainability. The initiative underscores Gateway CDC’s ongoing commitment to creating pathways to opportunity and fostering long-term community development.
